Frequently Asked Questions About Paving
My driveway is paved, now what?
Once your new asphalt driveway is complete, it will require care and maintenance. Like the rest of your home improvements on your property, the better care you give to your asphalt driveway the longer it is going to last.
In the first summer of your asphalt paving:
- Do not park on asphalt during hottest part of the day
- Do not park on tampered edges
- Do not turn steering wheel in driveway
- Keep motorcycle and bicycle stands, boat jacks, car jacks and other sharp objects off the driveway

Do you offer a warranty on asphalt paving?
Yes. We have a two-year warranty to cover manufacturer and workmanship defects such as cracking, heaving, and dipping for residential paving surfaces.
View our Sample Warranty Certificate (PDF).
Our warranty does not include: kick stand holes, holes from patio furniture or bbq’s, bicycle tearing or vehicle tire marks of any kind, sides crumbing due to parking too close to the edges, tire marks caused by commercial vehicles including but not limited to boat trailers, RV’s, Motor homes, flat beds, etc, underground water issues, rodent issues, weeds along the edges caused by untreated lawns, improperly removed tree stumps or roots, as well as oil spills, or stains caused by corrosive chemicals.
How long after paving can you drive on asphalt?
As far as vehicles are concerned,
- Don’t drive on it for 72 hours
- Don’t Park on it for 7 days
The weight of a vehicle like a car can cause rutting, scarring, and depressions in
uncured asphalt.
The risk is even higher for larger vehicles like trucks and campers. Even after the
recommended 7 days, a vehicle that is too heavy can cause damage if the driveway
was not designed to handle the weight, so if you own large vehicles build the right type
of driveway.
During the hotter summer months, when it takes longer for the hot mix to cool and
harden, you may want to wait a full month. The added heat keeps the asphalt more
pliable and the risk for early surface damage is higher. Do yourself a favor and park on the street or, if possible, inside a garage. Your patience will pay off.
When can you walk on fresh asphalt?
It’s best to avoid any type of use for at least 72 hours (3 days) while it’s cooling. But, if
you absolutely can’t avoid it, it’s safe to walk on asphalt 24 hours after it has been
compacted.
Does paving the driveway increase your home value?
The value a well-maintained driveway adds to your home often outweighs the cost.
Realtors project with a paved driveway you can expect a return of 20% to 50% on the
value of your home.
How long does a paved driveway last?
There are numerous factors that go into the lifespan of an asphalt driveway. The most
critical element is proper installation and good quality asphalt. With proper maintenance the lifespan of your driveway can be between 20 and 30 years.
Where should the water drain on my driveway?
We ensure proper drainage by sloping the driveway away from the foundation of the
home.
My car left tire scuffmarks. Are they permanent?
Tire scuffmarks are caused when you turn your car’s steering wheel while the car is
stationary. If it is a hot day and the asphalt has not completely cured, the surface will get a blemish like grinding your heel into a soft substance. Over time, most of this will
become less noticeable.
I have grass and weeds growing in my new driveway. How can this happen?
Properly compacted asphalt has 10% air voids in it. If a seed gets into the mix and germinates, then we have grass and weeds. The best thing to do is spray the area with ‘Round Up’ to kill the grass.
